With the use of approximately 2,500 knitting machines, Prewett produces an average of 600,000 dozen pairs of socks each week. To prepare for peak production periods, we have implemented an inventory management system that is based on forecast data provided by our customers. For most accounts, we maintain stock programs based on projected usage so that orders are turned around in a matter of days. Most of our plants work three shifts, five days per week. During peak seasons, it is common for our plants to work six days per week. Our shipping facility operates 51 weeks, closing only the week of Christmas.
